912 Day
Our Goal:
912 Day is a citywide celebration culminating on Savannah Day, a vibrant expression of our community's spirit on September 12th. Through nine days of engagement and a day of unity, we aim to spotlight Savannah's diverse neighborhoods, rich history, and thriving local businesses, fostering a deeper sense of belonging and pride among residents.
Beginning Sept. 3rd – Sept. 12th, the City of Savannah will host the “9 Days of 912” scavenger hunt as a key part of Savannah’s “912 Day” celebration, designed to engage residents and visitors in discovering unique locations and landmarks throughout the city. Participants will have the chance to win participation prizes and a grand prize by following clues, sharing their discoveries on social media, and interacting with our campaign.
The 912 Story:
For many years, the residents of Savannah have celebrated their city through "912 Day," or informally known as "Port Day," a day dedicated to championing local pride and civic unity. On September 12, 2021, Mayor Van R. Johnson II officially proclaimed this day as "Savannah Day," affectionately known as "912 Day," to honor the community spirit and love for the city. Since then, "912 Day" has become a symbol of connection for residents, businesses, and visitors alike, fostering a sense of appreciation for Savannah’s rich history and vibrant culture.
Over the past two years, the City of Savannah has hosted social media challenges and engaging activities to connect residents and celebrate what makes Savannah unique. As the city seeks to elevate "912 Day" to new heights, the celebration is expanding to include even more immersive experiences, cultural showcases, and community-driven events that locals, transplants, and visitors can look forward to each year. The evolution of "912 Day" aims to unite all who love Savannah, creating lasting memories and deepening the collective appreciation for the city's charm, history, and future.
This year's theme "You Make Us Fly" celebrates the people, places, and partners that are helping us move forward with this year's 912 Day celebrations!
"9 Days of 912" Scavenger Hunt Rules:
- Eligibility:
- Open to all residents and visitors of Savannah.
- Participants must have a public Instagram or Facebook account to be eligible.
- How to Participate:
- From September 3rd to September 12th, daily clues will be posted on the City of Savannah's social media accounts on Instagram and Facebook.
- Participants must find the location or landmark described in each clue.
- Take a photo at the identified location or landmark.
- Post the photo on Instagram or Facebook, tagging the @CityofSavannah.
- Use the hashtags #912Day, #Savannah912Day, #SavannahStrong, and #SAV912Day in the post.
- Grand Prize Raffle:
- Participants who successfully find and post a photo for each of the 9 days will be entered into a grand prize raffle.
- Be sure to follow and tag the required accounts and use the designated hashtags for each daily clue to qualify.
- Winner will be announced at culmination event of 912 Day (TBA).
- Verification:
- The correct answer for each clue will be revealed 24 hours after the clue is posted.
- Participants with correct submissions will be notified via direct message on the social media platform used.
- Rules for All Entries:
- Photos must be an original selfie taken at the specified location.
- Participants must be following @CityofSavannah on Instagram or Facebook.
- All posts must adhere to the community guidelines of Instagram and Facebook.
- Inappropriate or offensive content will be disqualified
- Additional Information:
- By participating, entrants consent to their photos being shared on the City of Savannah's social media platforms.
- The City of Savannah reserves the right to disqualify any entries that do not comply with these rules.
In addition to our Scavenger Hunt, we've added a NEW immersive element that will feature partner hosted events throughout 912 Week! Show your Savannah pride and come have fun with your neighbors at some of our events below!
Residents and visitors can pickup a free 912 Day Passport and fill it with official 912 Day stamps collected throughout the week at participating partner events. Official 912 Day Passports are available for pickup at City Hall, as well as select City Community Centers and Live Oak Library locations.
