Georgia Department of Transportation Commissioner Keith Golden presented members of Savannah City Council with a check for $1.052 million today for road improvements within the City.
The Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant, combined with the City’s 30 percent contribution, will pay for more than 80 road paving projects across Savannah in 2013.
Commissioner Golden was joined by other GDOT officials, State Sen. Buddy Carter, and members of Council during a brief ceremony at City Hall.
“It takes a team effort involving all government agencies coming together to make great things happen not only here in Savannah, but across the state,” Mayor Edna Jackson said at the event. “This money will be put to good use.”
Attached below is a preliminary list of street resurfacing projects planned for 2013 that will be funded with the LMIG money and local share. The list is only a tentative plan, and subject to change based on changing conditions in the field.
