TRAFFIC ALERT: Broughton St. Closed from Houston to Habersham

City of Savannah Marketing and Communications Posted on July 23, 2024 | Last Updated on July 30, 2024

UPDATE (July 30): Broughton Street at Price has reopened to vehicle traffic following repairs to the damaged stormwater infrastructure.

UPDATE (July 24): Following a preliminary assessment of the damaged infrastructure, City staff found that a stormwater pipe failed during the heavy rains earlier this week.

The assessment indicates that the junction point of two pipes in the middle of the intersection separated causing a cave-in.  No vehicles were damaged and no injuries were reported.

The City’s Water Resources Department has engaged with a contractor to begin repairs immediately. Weather depending, repairs should be concluded no later than Friday at 5 p.m. The current road closures will remain in effect until the repairs are finished.

Drivers are advised to find alternate routes and avoid the intersection while repairs are underway. The streets around the area are open to pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
