Thirty-five eighth-graders were sworn in as members of the 2014-2015 Savannah Youth Council by Mayor Jackson and Alderman Van Johnson during a ceremony held on yesterday.
“We are very proud to represent the youth in this community,” said Youth Council president, Zion Afolabi, a student at Esther F. Garrison School of Visual and Performing Arts.
The Youth Council is comprised of a diverse group of Savannah 8th graders who will attend council meetings, learn about the role of government and also participate in community service and leadership development activities.
