FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: February 10, 2014
The City of Savannah is currently accepting online orders for low-priced rain barrels and composters. Residents can purchase 65-gallon composters for $62 (regular retail price $89) and 50-gallon rain barrels for $65 (regular retail price $129). To place an order, go to www.rainbarrelprogram.org/savannah.
The rain barrels and composters will be available for pick-up on Saturday, March 8 in Daffin Park near Grayson Stadium between 8 a.m. and noon. Orders must be placed by March 2. A very limited number of rain barrels and composters will be available to purchase during the event on a first-come, first-served basis. Checks and credit cards will be accepted on-site.
Rain barrels capture storm water from a home roof and reduce the runoff into tidal creeks and rivers, helping to protect wildlife and water quality. Stored water can be used for watering landscapes and gardens, helping to preserve drinking water. Composters can be used to turn yard waste into soil enriching compost for gardens and landscaping.
