The latest Art in City Hall exhibit begins today and features the works of Peter J. Halpern. The exhibit is entitled “Savannah Scenes” and will be available for viewing in the City Hall Rotunda through June.
The exhibition features works in acrylic that capture the unique beauty of everyday Savannah scenes.
“I am seduced by the quiet mundane activities of others, and captivated by the solitude of tranquil places,” says Halpern. “My work is informed by my surroundings.”
Halpern is a life-long fine art painter. He studied at the University of Connecticut and participated in juried shows at the Connecticut Water Color Society, the Guildford Artist Guild, and the Museum of Art, Fort Lauderdale.
His works are influenced most by American artists of the early and mid-twentieth century such as Milton Avery; Marsden Hartley; and Edward Hopper.
