The Savannah Area Geographic Information System (SAGIS) will host the 7th Annual GIS Day Savannah at the campus of Savannah State University on Wednesday, Nov. 20. GIS Day introduces GIS mapping technology to school children and promotes the capabilities and use of GIS to the general business community.
This year, 400 students from local middle schools will explore some of the real-world applications for GIS by participating in hands-on demonstrations and meeting professionals from more than a dozen local businesses, government agencies and universities. The general public is invited to attend GIS Day Savannah at Savannah State in the afternoon from 2 to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
GIS Day is celebrated internationally as part of National Geographic’s International Geography Week. The City of Savannah is a proud sponsor of GIS Day Savannah. For more information, please contact Noel Perkins at (912) 651-1452 or visit www.gisdaysavannah.org online.
