City to Install 40-Foot Holiday Tree Monday, Nov. 25
Free parking in City garages begins Friday, Nov. 29
SAVANNAH – The City of Savannah invites residents to several signature holiday events celebrating the beginning of the festive season.
The City of Savannah will install a 40-foot Holiday Tree on Monday, Nov. 25 on Bull Street between Broughton St. and Congress St. The annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on Friday, Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m.
The Holly Days Family Fun Event in Ellis Square, in partnership with Savannah Holly Days presented by Visit Savannah, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 1 p.m. The event will feature activities provided by the Cultural Arts Center, holiday-themed entertainment, and special appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus.
The staging area for the Holiday Tree, on Bull Street between Broughton and Congress streets, will be closed to traffic at 8 a.m. on Monday and will remain closed through January 2025. No-parking zones in the staging area will be in effect starting Friday, Nov. 22. Vehicles parked in restricted areas will be towed at the owner’s expense.
The Mobility and Parking Services Department will also be holding its annual holiday parking specials, offering free parking in City garages for many days of the holiday season.
The City will offer free parking in garages on Friday, Nov. 29 (Black Friday), Saturday, Nov. 30 (Small Business Saturday), and Wednesday Jan. 1 (New Year’s Day). Free parking will also be offered in garages from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from Dec. 3 through Dec. 25. Normal hours and rates will apply outside of these days and times.
