City to roll out new electric vehicle fleet Wednesday
SAVANNAH (Jan. 11) – The City of Savannah will host a media availability to introduce the community to the city's new electric vehicle fleet on Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 10 a.m. at the Floyd Adams, Jr. City Services Complex.
In May 2021, the Savannah City Council approved the lease of 21 electric and 91 hybrid vehicles, marking the largest addition of alternative fuel vehicles in Savannah's history. The city anticipates the move will reduce light-duty fleet fuel consumption by an estimated 20% and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 23%.
The transition is a significant step in reaching the clean energy goals included in the 100% Savannah Clean Energy Plan, which the city council adopted in December.
Nick Deffley, the city’s Sustainability director, will be available for interviews.
