City to reopen Police Memorial Trail
SAVANNAH (Nov. 24) – The City of Savannah will host a ribbon-cutting on Monday, Nov. 29, at 11:30 a.m. to celebrate the repair and reopening of the Police Memorial Trail. The event will be held at Kerry Street and Dixie Avenue, where the trail begins.
The trail was closed in 2016 because the deteriorating asphalt surface made it unsafe for use. The city council approved a nearly $600,000 construction contract in February to replace and repair the trail. It completes the connection between the northern portion of the Truman Linear Park Trail and Bee Road. Ultimately, it will help improve residents' connectivity and access to recreation as part of the Tide-to-Town trail network.
