Mayor Johnson to recognize National Gun Violence Awareness Day

SAVANNAH (June 3) – Mayor Van Johnson will honor victims of gun violence and recognize National Gun Violence Awareness Day on Friday, June 4, at 5:30 p.m. with a proclamation in Johnson Square.

National Gun Violence Awareness Day, also known as Wear Orange, is observed on the first Friday and the following weekend each year in June. It is an opportunity for gun violence prevention supporters and advocates across the country to wear orange to honor and support the victims of gun violence and encourage gun safety.

Mayor Johnson will be joined by local supporters and advocates and invites the community to Johnson Square on Friday. Attendees are asked to wear orange, wear masks and socially distance themselves in the square.
