Almost 500 youths from the 28 summer supervised playgrounds in Savannah participated in the Savannah Playground Olympics on Tuesday at Daffin Park. Children from across Savannah participated in 16 field events and activities, including the tug of war, the hula race, kick ball, and jump rope. The Summer Supervised Playground program is run by the City’s Recreation Services Department.
The summer events will continue on Friday, July 19, beginning at 8:30 a.m., with the City Swim Meet at the Daffin Park Pool. Swim teams from the City’s nine public pools will be competing. For more information on the City’s pool program, go to savannahga.gov, and type “pool” in the search bar.
