Mayor Van R. Johnson, II, joined Gov. Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp for a news conference on Friday, Sept. 4, to encourage best practices and adherence to public health guidance to slow the spread of COVID-19 ahead of Labor Day weekend.
“We appreciate the governor and first lady for coming to Savannah to share the importance of being proactive during the holiday weekend to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” Mayor Johnson said. “We might have disagreed on policy in the past, but our message is the same now: wear a mask, keep your distance and wash your hands.”
The governor stopped in Savannah on Friday as part of his flyaround tour of Georgia.
