City Celebrates Additions to Tribble Park 

SAVANNAH, GA (November 19, 2018) — The City of Savannah held a ribbon cutting today to celebrate the additions to Tribble Park with Mayor Eddie DeLoach, Alderman Tony Thomas, City staff and members of the community.

Over the past year, SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) funds have been used to: construct a paved parking lot, add an additional security camera, add sidewalks, install a raised American flag, add a spraying fountain in the lake and create a natural amphitheater.

Once a waste water oxidation pond, Tribble Park was renovated in the early 2000’s and dedicated at a ceremony in 2007. Tribble Park is a 55-acre park located at 12519 Largo Drive in the Windsor Forest Neighborhood. The park includes an 11-acre lake. Joe Tribble Park amenities including a 6/10ths of a mile paved walking trail with lights, playground, picnic shelter, tables and benches. The park was named after Joseph J. Tribble who was a resident of Windsor Forest that served as undersecretary of energy under President Ronald Reagan. Mr. Tribble died in 2003 and the park was officially named in his honor the very next year.

“Here is what hard work, dedication and remaining to the cause looks like after almost twenty years,” said Alderman Tony Thomas. “You get a true sense of nature in the middle of a City standing in Tribble Park.”

Tribble Park is located in the Windsor Forest neighborhood of District 6. The neighborhoods of White Bluff and Wilshire Estates are located in close proximity to Windsor Park.

The additions to Tribble Park align with the priority of Neighborhood Revitalization within the Savannah Forward strategic plan.
