City Kicks Off United Way Campaign

SAVANNAH, GA (October 3, 2018) — Today the City of Savannah kicked off its 2018 United Way campaign and unveiled the $190,000 fundraising goal. City staff along with Mayor Eddie DeLoach, Mayor Pro Tem Carol Bell and representatives from the United Way of the Coastal Empire gathered in the rotunda at City Hall this morning for the kickoff.

For the past several years, City of Savannah employees have contributed more to the United Way than any other municipality in Georgia. Last year, the City of Savannah raised $178,771.

“It’s great to see the Mayor, City manager and staff come together to support such a great cause,” said City of Savannah Campaign Committee Chair Brenda Young-Price. “As a City we are united to give back and support our community.”

The funds raised from the City’s donations mobilize local resources to provide critical health and human services to thousands of people in the Savannah metropolitan area. The United Way invests in nearly 100 programs and over 50 partner agencies with a focus on education and youth development, financial stability and health and wellness.
