City Purchases Playground Equipment to Enhance Neighborhoods
SAVANNAH, GA (August 16, 2018) — The Mayor and Council approved the purchase of playground equipment that will include shaded structures, slides, swings and merry-go-rounds for the re-development of Cloverdale Park and the creation of Atwood Street Park.
Atwood Street Park is in the conception stage and will be located on Atwood Street off of Montgomery Cross Roads. Cloverdale Park is located off of Elanor Street and Cloverdale Drive. Additionally, the basketball court at Cloverdale Park is scheduled to be resurfaced and receive renovations.
“Our City Council’s investment in refurbishing our parks shows an absolute commitment to our strategic plan by providing our youth access to recreation, “said Parks and Recreation Director Barry Baker. “Maintaining comfortable public spaces is essential to developing strong community ties.”
The project cost is $54,708.85 per park which is funded through voter approved SPLOST 6 funds.
