City Seeks Designer for New Arena
SAVANNAH, GA (April 20, 2018)— The City of Savannah looking for an architectural firm to design Savannah’s new arena. The City issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) earlier this month. This is the next step in moving forward with building a new Savannah Arena west of Boundary Street near West Gwinnett Street and the Carver Village neighborhood.
The chosen firm will be responsible for the interior and exterior design of the nearly 260,000 sq./ft. arena. Executive Director of Arena Development, Pete Shonka, will be asking the firm to develop multiple concepts that will allow for maximum community input.
“The RFP requires that the types of finishes, the event facilities, premium seating opportunities, and the fan amenities must have signature elements that are innovative and remembered as ”Savannah”. Due to the size and complexity of the project, it is imperative that the City have expert architectural designers and engineers with arena building experience to assist in the conceptual design and construction of this project.” Shonka said.
The RFP for the arena design closes May 8. Click here to view the RFP.
The arena project is a SPLOST-funded project and falls in line with the City’s Savannah Forward Strategic Plan priority of Neighborhood Revitalization. This project will improve access to recreation and improve mobility and neighborhood connectivity.
