Council Approves Next Phase of Truman Trail

SAVANNAH, GA (March 16, 2018) — The City of Savannah Mayor and Council voted today to award the design services contract for the phase of the Truman Trail that stretches from Daffin Park to Jenkins High School to Thomas and Hutton Engineering.

Thomas and Hutton will collaborate with the Sustainability Office to create a design and engineer the next phase of the Truman Linear Park Trail. This portion of the trail will be a 2.6 mile section from Jenkins High School to Bee Road near Daffin Park.

The design phase is a 12-14 month process. A construction contract will be competitively bid out after the design phase is complete. The construction portion of the Jenkins High School to Daffin Park phase will be funded with a combination of federal grants and local funds, the Office of Sustainability is continuing to compete for other federal grants to fund this project. It is anticipated that GDOT will reimburse the City for 80% of the total project cost.
