[ARCHIVED] New Native Blooms exhibit open in City Hall rotunda

The Chicken Lady

For Immediate Release
Date: August 1, 2017

Local artist and City of Savannah employee Carol Lasell Miller will present an exhibition of original paintings entitled Native Blooms at the City Hall Rotunda from now through December 2017. The rotunda is open to the public Monday-Friday, 8:15 a.m.-5 p.m. In the exhibit, Miller uses the medium acrylics to capture the beautiful and varied bouquet of individuals that make Savannah so remarkable.

“I’ve discovered that for me the most rewarding part of painting comes from having that opportunity to experience firsthand a bit of the life led by my subjects, getting to know them and learning about their history,” said Miller.

Miller got her start in painting through the City’s Department of Cultural Affairs programs. Her first painting was done for their National Arts Program, an annual exhibition program for City employees and their families. Since that first painting, Miller has gone on to become a prolific artist, with a special interest in the unique people and places of Savannah.
