[ARCHIVED] Traffic shift on President Street to begin tomorrow, Dec. 15

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: December 14, 2016

Motorists traveling on President Street should be aware of a major planned traffic shift scheduled to begin tomorrow, Thursday, December 15. The shift will occur on President St. between East Broad and the Truman Parkway. Traffic will move onto the new elevated roadway of President Street, allowing construction to continue while leaving four lanes of traffic open.

For this traffic shift, speed limits will be reduced to 20 mph and lanes will be narrow. Motorists are asked to exercise caution and observe the speed limit.

This traffic shift will allow contractors to make final utility line connections, demolish and elevate existing President Street roadway, and install additional roadway and intersection improvements. The President Street project is expected to be completed at the end of 2017. For more information about the President Street project, go to www.savannahga.gov/president.
