The Savannah Youth Ambassadors will host “Make it Count: Savannah Youth Ambassador’s Back-to-School Grand Slam” on Saturday, August 6 from 9 a.m. to noon to celebrate youth being active in their community and on the basketball court with a 3x3 tournament, music, food, special guests, games and activities. The event will take place at the W.W. Law Center, 909 East Bolton Street, and raises funds to support the Center as well as the non-profit organizations within the Center, including: Greenbriar Children’s Center, Kids Café, and Live Oak Public Library.
Three-Player teams interested in participating can register on site at the event. The cost is $10 per team.
Admission to the event is $5 per person. Instead of cash, attendees may bring items to donate to the featured non-profits including: white washcloths and towels, laundry detergent, body wash and other toiletries, 3-ring binders and other school supplies, and healthy snacks.
Savannah Youth Ambassador (SYA) is a leadership training institute for high school students sponsored by the City of Savannah Community and Economic Development Bureau. SYA participants receive a variety of hands-on training sessions, visit local neighborhoods, businesses, cultural and civic institutions, and work in teams to research, design, coordinate and implement Make a Difference (M.A.D.) community impact projects.
