Newsracks Removal

Due to security concerns, Code Compliance is requiring that all publishers/distributors remove their freestanding newsracks during the St. Patrick’s Day Festival based on these times: 

  • River Street, Factors Walk, Bay Street and City Market: Free standing newsracks must be removed by Friday, March 13, 8 a.m. and placed back no earlier than 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 18.
  • Parade Route: Free standing newsracks must be removed from the parade route by Monday, March 16,12 noon and returned to their original location the morning of Wednesday, March 18.

Failure to comply with this request will result in the impoundment of any freestanding newsracks that have not been removed. An impoundment fee may be applied and must be paid prior to the release of any newsrack. For more information please contact Danny Henderson, DHenderson@Savannahga.Gov

City Market Business Deliveries
The roads in, and around City Market will be closed to vehicular traffic intermittently starting on Friday, March 13 at 5 p.m. to Wednesday, March 18 at 7 a.m. 

 All deliveries must occur during the times listed below: 

  • Friday, March 13 - Before 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 14 - After 5 a.m. and before 10 a.m.
  • Sunday, March 15 - After 5 a.m. and before 10 a.m.
  • Monday, March 16 - After 5 a.m. and before 10 a.m.
  • Tuesday, March 17 - After 5 a.m. and before 10 a.m.

Additionally, businesses wishing to stage vehicles or equipment for extended periods of time using public parking spaces or any public area should obtain a Right-of-Way Permit through the City of Savannah, Traffic Engineering Office. Additional information concerning the application can be found on the City’s website, www.savannahga.gov. River Street Business Deliveries
Ramps from Bay Street to River Street will close starting at 4pm on Friday the 13th and remain closed until Wednesday Morning at 8am.  River Street will close to all Traffic between MLK Jr Blvd and East Broad Ramp beginning at 4pm on Friday, March 13th with the exception of approved delivery hours.  

Deliveries must occur during the following times:

  • Friday, March 13: before the closure at 4pm
  • Saturday, March 14: 4 a.m. - 10 a.m.
  • Sunday, March 15: 4 a.m. - 10 a.m.
  • Monday, March 16: 4 a.m. - 10 a.m.
  • Tuesday, March 17: 4 a.m. - 10 a.m. - MUST EXIT at General MacIntosh Bay St. Closed at 8 a.m.

Businesses deliveries must access River Street during the listed delivery hours from Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.   There will be no access to River Street EAST of MLK Jr. Blvd except during delivery hours, River St WEST of MLK Jr. Blvd will remain open throughout the weekend.
