Stormwater Management

The Stormwater Department is responsible for the maintenance and repair of open and closed drainage systems ensuring compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit, reviewing private development plans to ensure compliance with pertinent City ordinances, managing the flood reduction capital infrastructure improvement program, and protecting our water resources from stormwater pollution.

The City has two separate conveyance systems, one for rain water and one for the water we use in our homes and businesses. Keeping these systems separate is extremely important because the one that carries rain water flows right into our surrounding creeks, marshes, and rivers.

The City's Stormwater Department has many opportunities for the public to help keep our precious water resources clean for fishing and swimming. Information can be found on this website or by contacting us at 912-651-2221 or email.
