Stormwater Management

Stormwater Management is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the stormwater drainage systems of the City of Savannah. This includes the operation of seven stormwater pump stations, over 390 miles of storm sewers, over 160 miles of drainage ditches and canals, and five detention ponds.

Another function of the department is to ensure compliance with a state-issued stormwater permit, which requires stormwater monitoring, private site inspections, and site development permitting.

And thirdly, the department develops engineering plans, bids and installs capital drainage improvements projects.
