Crews have nearly completed this phase of utility work at the intersection of President Street and the new General McIntosh Blvd. The last of the stormwater inlets and pipes are being installed.
On the south side of President Street, all the utility lines are installed and connections are complete for the first major traffic shift. Asphalt is currently being placed and compacted for the new elevated roadway and traffic shift. The shift of traffic onto the new elevated roadway is planned to occur before the end of the year. Four lanes of traffic will be maintained during the traffic shift. Traffic will be routed around a manhole near the intersection of President and Randolph Streets so work can be performed. This section of new roadway will include a significant transition in the road requiring a 20 MPH speed limit. We encourage drivers to follow the speed limits and drive safely during this phase.
