May 12, 2016 Update

Posted on May 12, 2016 at 7:52 AM by Saja Aures

The surcharge consolidation settlement phase for a portion of President Street has ended.  Now that settlement in the western portion of the project has reached constructible levels the surcharge material is being removed so that water and sewer lines can be installed along the south side of President Street, from the Madison Retail Warehouse entrance west to Randolph Street.

Utility crews continue to install water, sewer and gas utilities just west of Truman Parkway.  Once these new lines are tied back into the existing ones, work will continue westward and the excavations for these connections will be back-filled.

The canal wall crew finished pouring the last concrete for the western wall on the north side of Truman Parkway.  Once concrete is set, forms will be removed along with the sheet pile used for shoring during excavation.  Fill will be placed back around the walls temporarily until this crew returns later in the year to construct the bridge over the proposed canal.
