Wick Drain installation crews have mobilized to the site and are setting up for installation of wick drains along the south side of President St. Wick drains will be installed to a depth of 40’ on a 5’ triangular spacing.
On General McIntosh Boulevard crews continue to place backfill material in compacted lifts up to proposed subgrade of the new roadway. Portions of the new General McIntosh roadway will require the installation of wick drains as well.
Curb and gutter, as well as stone road base material, has been installed along the new Congress Street and out into its intersection with General McIntosh Boulevard. Crews will be installing sidewalk behind the new curb next and paving the initial base layer of asphalt in the next week or two.
Jack and bore of steel casings underneath the railroad tracks and future Bilbo Canal, just south of President Street and west of Truman Parkway continues. The 36” diameter steel casing for the 24” diameter water main has been completed. Crews there are now moving on to the next jack and bore of a 36” steel casing which will accommodate the new 24” sewer force main.
Construction of a significant section of the new reinforced concrete Bilbo Canal western wall was completed this week. Crews are now removing forms and temporary sheet pile to begin on the opposite eastern portion of the proposed 90’ wide Bilbo Canal wall.
