Over
the past week, rain fall has been less than previous weeks, but still causing
damp conditions on site. These conditions have prevented placement of
additional fill dirt on the south side of President Street and prevented the
placement of temporary pavement along the north side of President St. near
General McIntosh.
Utility
line installation has continued along Randolph Street including the flushing
and testing of new water and sewer lines as well as installation of storm drain
laterals and catch basins. Another utility crew has been installing a 24”
water main and 12” water main along the east side of General McIntosh..
Dealing
with saturated soils and high groundwater, a crew continues preparing for the
installation of jack and bore steel casings underneath the railroad tracks,
just south of President Street and west of Truman Parkway.
Bilbo
Canal and bridge construction located near the train tracks on President Street
will begin construction next week. Test piles will be driven along with
temporary sheet pile utilizing the crane located at this location along the
project.
Additional
preparations continue for the traffic shift along President Street and closure
of the east bound traffic turn lane onto the Truman Parkway. This traffic
shift and turn lane closure onto south bound Truman Parkway is now set for Wednesday,
July 22 starting at 9 AM. A detour to Truman Parkway (south bound)
from downtown will be via Wheaton Street to Bee Road. This closure and
detour will remain for the majority of the project duration, but will allow for
maintaining four lanes of traffic (two in each direction) for President Street
east and west bound thru traffic. This closure and traffic shift will
only effect east bound traffic along President St. intending to take the ramp
onto Truman Parkway south bound. Traffic traveling west bound on
President Street will continue to have access to the ramp onto Truman Parkway
south bound.
