Recent rainfall has provided wet conditions along the
project site. Despite these conditions, crews continue to make progress
on the project.
Atlanta Gas and Light continue to make progress with the
relocation of their 12 inch High Pressure Gas Main. AGL is currently
making tie-ins at two separate locations along the southern shoulder of
President St. These tie-ins connect the new gas main with the existing
line and will provide the required utility line relocation for future
construction activities on the south side of President. AGL is also
currently working on replacing their gas main along and underneath the new
General McIntosh Blvd. AGL plans to complete their gas main relocations
next week. The General Contractor continues to coordinate activities with
AT&T and other utility providers to ensure these lines are properly
relocated to prevent damage during construction. A steel casing continues to be installed on the far east end
of the project (just east of Truman Parkway) to accommodate a water main tie-in
within the median of President St. Boring of the casing under President
St. east bound lanes has been complete. The contractor is now working on
the installation of the casing from the southern shoulder of President St. to
the back of the right of way (going underneath the rail road). This work
is scheduled to be completed this week, and will allow for the start of
construction on the new water main as well as a new 24” sewer force main along
the back of the road right of way.
In addition to these activities, the contractor is bringing
in an additional crew this week to begin utility (water, sewer, storm) line
replacements and new installations near the intersection of General McIntosh
and Randolph Street.
Randolph Street (just south of President Street) is
scheduled to receive a final paved surface next week.
