Progress along the President Street and General McIntosh
Boulevard project continues. Activities continue along Randolph Street
(south of President Street) to replace old curb and gutter and repave the
roadway. Atlanta Gas and Light continue to install new sections of their
relocated 12" high pressure gas main. Utility crews continue the
work of boring new water utility lines underneath General McIntosh and the rail
road on the far east end of the project (heavy equipment can be seen just off President
Street on the east side of the Truman Parkway). The
General Contractor, McLendon Enterprises, has completed demolition of
the old General McIntosh Boulevard roadway and began hauling fill material and
placing this fill along a portion of General McIntosh Boulevard. This fill is the first signs of the future elevated roadway which is to be
established.
Over the next week, weather permitting, the contractor
plans to continue placing fill along General McIntosh Boulevard, and continue
utility line relocations and installations along General McIntosh and the far
east end of the project. The contractor also plans to place asphalt along
Randolph Street (south of President St.) to form this finished road
surface.
