Garden Support

The City of Savannah recognizes the effort involved in the long-term maintenance of a community garden. In addition to informational resources, we are excited to provide some financial support in both the establishment and ongoing maintenance of gardens.

To be eligible for this funding, your garden cannot exclude any members or groups from applying to be a part of the garden (for example, if your garden is in a gated community that is closed off to the public). You may request reimbursement for supplies such as planting containers, soil, tools, seeds, and rental equipment. Reach out to us if you would like to confirm the eligibility of an item prior to purchasing, or if you would like to confirm the eligibility of your garden.

Save your receipts and/or invoices! Please note that we will need original copies of your receipts and/or invoices to complete your reimbursement requests. We suggest that you create copies or take photos for your records before dropping off the originals. Funding for the gardens work on a quarterly reimbursement basis and you must submit any invoices or receipts by the deadline provided by:

  1. Completing the Supplies Request Form
  2. Mailing in or dropping off original copies of your receipts/invoices (addresses listed in the Supplies Request Form).

The City will reimburse up to $350/year for existing gardens and up to $250/year for the establishment of new gardens. Requests must be submitted on a quarterly basis by the deadlines listed below and should include any expenses made during the months listed for that quarter:

  • March 31st (Q1: January - March)
  • June 30th (Q2: April - June)
  • September 30th (Q3: July - September)
  • December 31st (Q4: October - December)
