The City of Savannah recognizes community gardens as valuable recreational and educational spaces that can contribute to community development and environmental awareness. The City will collaborate with interested groups to assist in the development of community gardens on City-owned property. Read through our Starting a Garden: A Step-by-Step Guide page to learn more about this process.
A community garden is defined as a single piece of land gardened collectively by way of designated plots, where each plot is cared for by an individual or shared by a group of people. The garden is used to grow vegetables, fruits, herbs, and/or flowers for personal use and for donation.
The map below is a tool to help the public identify gardens in their community. Some of the gardens shown here may be private or managed by schools, and calling the Garden Manager or point of contact listed is the best way to learn if they have opportunities available for engagement. Explore gardens across the city using the Community Gardens Map! If you're exploring our website using your phone, scroll to the bottom of the page to check out additional links.
