Weatherization Assistance for Savannah/Chatham County Area Residents
If you live in the Savannah area and want to make your home more energy efficient, comfortable, and safe, help is available through the Weatherization Assistance Program. This program helps income-qualified households lower energy costs and improve home comfort all at no cost to residents.
If you live in the Savannah area and want to make you home energy efficient, comfortable, and safe, help is available through the weatherization Assistance Program. This Program helps income- qualified households lower energy costs and improve home comfort all at no cost to residents.
In Savannah and Chatham County, weatherization services are provided by Action Pact, the local agency working in partnership with the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) to deliver these valuable home energy improvements to our community.
What The Program Offers:
Through the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), administered locally by Action Pact, eligible households may receive home energy efficiency improvements. The specific measures installed will depend on the results of an energy audit and may include:
- Air and duct sealing
- Wall, floor, and attic insulation
- Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system improvements
- Energy efficiency improvements in lighting
- Hot water tank and pipe insulation
- Water conservation devices
Eligibility:
- Low‑income households (typically at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level) in eligible home types (single‑family, manufactured, or appropriate multi‑family units) Campers and nonstationary trailers are not eligible.
- Priority is often given to older adults, households with disabilities, and families with children.
- Homeowners and renters may qualify - but renters may need landlord agreement
