Energy Efficiency
Energy efficiency means using less energy to perform the same task—whether it’s heating your home, lighting a room, or powering appliances. It’s about getting more value from every kilowatt, without sacrificing comfort or convenience.
Why It Matters
Energy efficiency is one of the easiest and most impactful ways to:
- Lower utility bills
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- Improve indoor comfort
- Extend the life of appliances and systems
- Strengthen energy security and grid reliability
City Infrastructure Upgrades: Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Project Update
The City is actively working with McKinstry to modernize and improve energy efficiency across public facilities. This ongoing project is part of a broader effort to enhance building performance, reduce energy costs, and support long-term sustainability goals.
Work in Progress:
- Building Envelope Improvements to strengthen insulation and reduce energy loss
- Window Installations to improve natural lighting, comfort, and efficiency
- Lighting Upgrades with high-efficiency LED fixtures for better visibility and reduced energy use
- Door Installations to enhance security, accessibility, and thermal control
These improvements are underway across multiple city-owned buildings. Once completed, the project is expected to save $3.5 million over its 20-year lifespan, making it both environmentally and financially impactful.
