Federal Tax Credit for Home EV Charger Installation

If you purchase and install an electric vehicle (EV) charger at your primary residence, you may qualify for a federal tax credit.

Credit Amount

  • 30% of the cost, including labor and eligible equipment.

  • Maximum credit: $1,000 per charging port.

  • Eligible costs can also cover items needed for installation, like the stand (pedestal) that holds up the charging port.

Important: (OBBB, Public Law 119-21) This credit (Internal Revenue Code Section 30C) will expire for any property placed in service after June 30, 2026.

Georgia Power Home EV Charger Rebate


Georgia Power offers up to $200 when you install a Level 2 (240-volt) EV charger at your home.

How it works:

  • Buy and install a qualifying Level 2 charger with a licensed electrician.

  • Submit your rebate application within 6 months of installation.

Who qualifies:

  • Georgia Power residential customers

  • Installation completed by a licensed electrician

  • Proof of purchase and installation required
