The City is beginning to transition much of its light duty vehicle fleet to hybrid technology and plug-in electric.
SOLUTION
In June 2019, the City received it’s first two Nissan Leaf electric vehicles (EVs). This was driven by the City’s strategic plan goal to begin transition its fleet to more fuel-efficient and alternative fuel vehicles.
KEY PARTNER
GA Power's "Will It Work" program was a key partner in evaluating vehicle use data and identifying appropriate vehicles for transition to EV. The first two EV's were leased by Mobility & Parking Services for use by City parking attendants. These vehicles will be the foundation of the City's assessment of the economic and operational viability of additional EV transition in the fleet.
IMPLEMENTATION
Just these two vehicles will keep 9.8 tons of carbon out of our air and will realize ongoing fuel and maintenance savings. They are also fun to drive as the Parking Attendants can attest. We’re planning to add more EVs to our fleet in 2020.
