- WHEN DO I NEED A PERMIT?

If you have a large crew of 7 or more and equipment consisting of more than 2 cameras and a portable light.
If you want to film on public rights-of-way (ROW), including public buildings, streets and sidewalks.
If you require exclusive use of a location.
- HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A PERMIT?

It takes at least five business days to review and approve a film application. More complicated applications may take longer.
- DOES THE FILM & MEDIA OFFICE HELP SCOUT AND SECURE LOCATIONS?

No, you'll need to choose your own location. However, once you've selected one, we can discuss the possibility of filming there and explore whether we can obtain the necessary permits.
- WHEN DO I NEED SAVANNAH POLICE DEPARTMENT OFFICERS?

Officers are needed for any filming in any park or square after 10 PM.
Any filming taking place in the street or a lane for traffic control.
Any filming with prop guns/simulated gunfire.
- WHEN DO I NOTIFY RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES OF MY FILMING ACTIVITIES?

You need to notify businesses and residents 48 hours prior to filming.
City of Savannah Permit Fees:
Permit Application Fee: $30 non-refundable processing fee.
Student Film Permit $30.00 Per location
Professional Film Permit $325.00 Per location
Blanket / B-Roll Permit $125.00 Crews of 10 (ten) or less only
Drone Permit $150.00
Expedited Film Permit Fees:
Within 72 hours of production $100.00 Per location
Within 48 hours of production $200.00 Per location
Within 24 hours of production $300.00 Per location
Amendment Fees:
Low Impact $150.00 Minor changes, such as parking capture adjustments
Medium Impact $250.00 Moderate changes, such as road adjustments
High Impact $350.00 Major changes, such as dates, traffic control, etc.
On-Site Service Fees:
Administrative Fee $150.00 Per Location
City Staff Overtime $45.00 Per Location, Per hour, 4-hour minimum payment
Historic Property Impact Fees:
Savannah City Hall $750.00 /Day $3,000.00 /Day
Cluskey Embankment $750.00 /Day $1,000.00 /Day
Savannah Powder Magazine $750.00 /Day $800.00 /Day
Parking Impact Fees:
a. Parking meter fees shall be assessed per day at the rate listed on the meter
b. A daily impact fee, per location, shall be assessed for any general parking impacts, both metered or unmetered, and additional to any metered fees.
On-street Metered
$1.00 Per hour, per space as marked. Maximum $12.00 /Day.
On-street Metered
$2.00 Per hour, per space as marked. Maximum $24.00 /Day.
Daily Parking Impact $325.00 Per location, per day for impacts to area parking. *Additional to metered parking fees.
Film Specific Traffic Engineering Fees:
Expedited Review 1 $100.00 Per location, within 72 hours of production
Expedited Review 2 $200.00 Per location, within 48 hours of production
Expedited Review 3 $300.00 Per location, within 24 hours of production
Amendment 1 $150.00 Minor changes, such as parking capture adjustments
Amendment 2 $250.00 Moderate changes, such as road adjustments
Amendment 3 $350.00 Major changes, such as dates, traffic control, etc.
Failure to Notify Impacted Property Fees:
First Notification Failure $1,500.00 Up to the amount listed, and may include suspension of permit
Second Notification Failure $5,000.00 Up to the amount listed, and may include suspension of permit
48-HOUR IMPACTED PROPERTY NOTIFICATION REQUIRED
The Production Company must notify impacted properties, as determined by the Director of the Office of Special Events, Film &Tourism or his/her Designee, no less than 48 hours prior to any film-related activity. Notification is REQUIRED for all filming activity on public and private property regardless if a permit is issued. Failure to do so will result in a fee charged to the Production Company as listed on the Film Permit.
Violation of Permit Fees:
First offense $250.00
Second offense $500.00
Third offense $750.00
NOTE: ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE EXCEPT IN EXTRAORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES
