Small Cell Telecom Permits

The Real Estate Services Department administers the permitting of small cell equipment within the City of Savannah, including the addition of new poles and antenna.    The City has adopted a local ordinance in compliance with state and federal laws governing the deployment of small cell telecommunications equipment.   The process begins with an introductory meeting between the City and the Applicant to understand the proposed project.   The Applicant then submits information to the Savannah-Chatham County Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) for a determination of need and the availability of co-location to reduce proliferation.   If the MPC determines a void in coverage and need is warranted, then the Applicant submits a full application to the City for review and adjudication.    There is an initial application fee, as well as an annual fee if the permit is granted.
