Home Water Audit

Do you know where your water meter is located? Have you ever read your water meter?

The next time you receive a utility bill from the City of Savannah check the reading on your bill with the reading on your water meter. The meter should have a higher number than your bill because time and water use has continued while your bill was being prepared.

If you experience a higher than normal utility bill check these things:

  1. Do you hear the sound of running water when all water fixtures are off? It could be a running toilet.
  2. Do you have an irrigation system? Inspect your system to make sure you don't have any missing heads. An unmonitored irrigation system can make your water bill grow like a weed! Turn it off at the valve every fall and keep it off through the winter. When the growing season returns make sure you are irrigating only lawn. Established plants and shrubs, especially indigenous or native ones, rarely need additional irrigation after the first full year of planting.

And if you still can't explain the higher bill, reach out for a home water audit. We are happy to help!
