I Am Savannah Prepared!

Be Savannah Prepared by taking immediate action to protect your family during emergency situations. Here’s how:

1. Develop A Plan

Family members may not be together when disaster strikes, so it is important to plan for the following situations:

  • How will family members get to safe locations during an emergency?
  • How will family members call or text if land lines are down, electricity is out and internet doesn’t work?
  • How will loved ones let each other know they are safe?

Customize an emergency plan for your family using the step by step guide at the FEMA Ready.gov planning website https://www.ready.gov/plan or the Ready Georgia planning site https://gema.georgia.gov/plan-prepare/ready-georgia/make-plan

2. Prepare A Kit

A well-prepared emergency preparedness supply kit will provide your family and pets with food, water and other supplies during the first 72 hours of a disaster if first responders and relief workers are unable to reach you right away. Download the FEMA Disaster Supply Checklist at https://www.ready.gov/sites/default/files/2020-03/ready_emergency-supply-kit-checklist.pdf) or visit the FEMA Build a Kit site at https://www.ready.gov/kit

3. Stay Informed

Stay informed about emergencies and warnings from the City of Savannah and Chatham County. Enrolling in the RAVE Alert community notification system is the easiest way to receive the latest information from official sources. Enroll in RAVE Alert online at https://www.smart911.com/smart911/ref/login.action?pa=citysavannahga. Once enrolled, City of Savannah emergency notifications will be phoned, emailed and/or texted to you as soon as they are issued. Receiving critical information as soon as possible is key to becoming Savannah Prepared!
