Registration for Fall Classes Opens in July!
Thank you everyone for a wonderful spring term! Class sessions will resume in August, after summer camps have finished. During the summer we will have special workshops and events. You can see our past class examples and upcoming events with the following links:

All classes take place at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center at 201 Montgomery St. Limited (paid) street parking is available near the (SCAC). The closest parking garages are Liberty Parking Garage on Liberty and Montgomery and Robinson Parking Garage on Montgomery St. across from Chatham County Courthouse.

Page to Stage Marquice Williams & Chris Williams | Tuesdays 6:00-7:30pm Adult (18+) 4 Week Series Aug 16, 23, 30, Sept 6 $50 $40 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Put your thoughts to words and your words to the stage! This 4-week series for aspiring writers will explore the process of taking one’s ideas from “Page to Stage.” Join Spitfire Poetry’s Marquice Williams and Chris Williams as they guide your ideas first to paper and then towards performance. |
Truth and Acting Annie Childress | Wednesdays 4:30-5:45pm Teen (9th-12th Graders) 6-Week Series $80 | In this class we will explore how truth and acting inform one another and are essential partners in breathing life into real and grounded characters. Over this six-week course, students will engage with the fundamentals of acting and study of character culminating in an end of semester performance. |
Comedic Acting Tiffany Wright | Saturdays 10:15-11:30am Adult 18+ 7 Week Course $70 | Enjoy a fun twist on your traditional acting class and explore the world of comedic acting! Each week you will discover a new comedic technique that will allow you to become more comfortable in life and on stage by tapping into your own sense of humor. This class is open to adult actors of ALL levels, no experience required! |

Parent/Child Movement Class Kristin Mueller | Tuesdays 9:15-10:00am 6-Week Series $35 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | This class offers interactive bonding time with parent and child, geared towards children ages two and three. Play with your child in song and dance, helping them achieve confidence in cognitive and motor skills. Using props and imagination in themed organized play connects you with your child while watching their independence develop. |
Pre-Ballet Kristin Mueller | Tuesdays 10:30-11:00am Aug 16, 23, 30, Sept 6, 13, 20 $50 $30 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Twirl into Pre-Ballet! This class is for preschoolers taking their very first dance class. We’ll learn the basic fundamental positions and movements to find the magic and joy ballet brings through interactive songs and fun props to aid in coordination and balance. |
Creative Movement MiKeshia McPhaul | Tuesdays 4:00-5:00pm Youth (Ages 6-9) 6-Week Series | Stretch your imagination and explore movement through music and dance! No dance experience required for this all levels class, come ready to move! This class will build teamwork skills and confidence. |
Youth Intro to Ballet Kristin Mueller | Wednesdays 9:15-10:00am 6-Week Series $55 | This introductory dance course will engage young dancers with props and imagery, forming a connection between mind and body as they familiarize themselves with basic ballet terminology in a fun, interactive class. |
Youth Beginning Ballet Kristin Mueller | Wednesdays 10:30-11:15am 6-Week Series $55 | Leap into this introductory course to classical ballet! In this class we will find fun ways to connect ballet’s French terminology into useful tools of imagery, developing proper technique and turnout each class. As control of the body is established at the barre, executing basic ballet moves gracefully and with poise will bring out the ballerina in you! |

Toot Your Flute Erika Andres | Mondays 4:30-5:15pm Ages 5-9 6-Week Series August 29 $35 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Learn how to play the flute with the Nuvo Toot! The Toot provides an excellent opportunity to start learning how to play the flute on an instrument that is small, durable, and colorful! In the 6-week class, students will learn how to play and read their first few notes and perform several songs together in a fun group setting. Instruments: Nuvo Toots will be provided for use during class and thoroughly cleaned between sessions, however it is recommended to purchase your own if possible in order to practice outside of class. |
Brazilian Percussion Andrew Hartzell | Wednesdays 7:00-9:00pm Teen and Adult (Ages 14+) 8-Week Series August 17, 24, 31, Sept 7, 14, 21, 28, Oct 5 $80 $60 - City of Savannah Resident Rate $10 - Drop-in Rate | Keep the beat and join the world of Brazilian percussion and rhythm with Andrew Hartzell of Samba Savannah! The eight week series will explore specific rhythms rooted in Candomblé, the Afro Brazilian religion, Capoeira, the Brazilian martial art, Samba de Roda, and Partido Alto, the rhythm of Pagode Samba, and how these rhythms have come to be represented in the popular music of Brazil. This class will work towards learning two specific musical pieces that incorporate the styles learned, with instrumental and vocal accompaniment included, to provide percussion students a complete experience of the music. Most of the percussion instruments for this class are played with the hands, and many of the instruments will be provided, however if you have any of the following instruments you are welcome to bring them with you to the class: Congas, Pandeiro, TanTan, Rebolo, Tamborim, Agogo bell, Cuica. Open to all levels. Drop- ins are welcome, however, as this course follows a particular arc and progression, it is recommended that all eight classes be attended to fully appreciate and experience the history, poetry, and swing of Brazilian Samba. |
Introduction to Healing Sounds Mathew Duplessie | Saturdays 1:00-2:00pm Adult (18+) 7 Week Course $70 | Join internationally renowned musician and sound healer Matthew Duplessie on a 7-week journey into the healing potentials of sound, frequency and vibration. Learn how to use your voice for healing purposes, experience healing sound instruments, learn to listen to the healing potentials of the body, as well how to develop one's ability to create healing space by learning the basics to sound healing. Instrument demonstrations include voice, didgeridoo, singing bowls, flutes, percussion, rhythm guitar and more. In this series you will participate in healing sound circles as well as receive weekly sound healing. Participants are invited to bring similar healing instruments for participation as well as for mentorship. Consider bringing a comfortable blanket to sit on. Chairs will be available. |

Homeschool Art Antonia Gorham Registration Closed | Mondays 11:00am-12:00pm Youth (6-12) 4-Week Series, biweekly $55 | Learn, create, and have fun in our biweekly art series prepared for home schooled students! Each session will offer a different creative and educational activity to foster artistic expression. Parents are encouraged to join in on the fun for free. |
Drawing Fundamentals and Beyond Christina Taylor Registration Closed | Tuesdays 10:00am-12:00pm *WAITLIST* Adult (16+) 8-Week Series $110 $80 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Take your inner artist to the next level! This course will introduce you to drawing fundamentals and technical skills to create simple and complex forms through gesture, line, textures, patterns, perspective, value, and shading. Designed for complete beginners and those looking to brush up their skill set, this course will equip you with the knowledge to create stunning designs and finished drawings. Watercolor Painting Billie Stultz Registration Closed | Tuesdays 7:00-9:00pm *WAITLIST* Adult (16+) 8-Week Series $110 $80 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Watercolor Painting will introduce you to the fundamentals and technical skills of watercolor painting. This course will go over various painting and brush techniques, color theory, perspective drawing/painting, and value which will develop or enhance your skills as a painter. This course is designed for the complete beginner and will introduce you to the wonderful world of watercolor step by step. Students will be required to provide materials for the class. Paper Quilling Pam Reynolds Registration Closed | Wednesdays 6:30-8:30pm Adult (16+) 8-Week Series $125 $100 - City of Savannah Resident Rate (April 6, 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11, 18, 25) | Roll into the world of paper art! This course will teach techniques of paper coiling and filigree quilling used to make beautiful shapes and images. Plus, we’ll cover the history of this beautiful art form. Each student will produce a chart of basic quilling shapes and then design and create an 8x10in original composition. |
Acrylic Painting: Foundations Cameron Harrison Registration Closed | Thursdays 6:30-8:30pm Adult (16+) 8-Week Series $110 $80 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Explore the creative and fun world of acrylic painting! Designed for beginners or anyone looking to improve their skills, this class will guide you through a number of styles and techniques of this user-friendly medium. The class will cover basic materials, the properties of acrylics, color theory, composition, glazes, expressive painting, and more. Acrylic Painting: Beyond the Basics Nikki Zuaro Registration Closed | Thursdays 10:00am-12:00pm Adult (16+) 8-Week Series $110 $80 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Acrylic painting is an amazingly versatile medium that can be used for a wide range of painting techniques. This class covers acrylics properties and materials, composition, and more. Students will work on landscapes, skyscapes, flowers, still life, collage, and abstract paintings. All students should have a basic knowledge of drawing and some painting experience. Come develop your personal style and painting skills with us! |

Mosaics: Pam Reynolds Registration Closed | Mondays 7:00-9:00pm Adult (16+) 8-Week Series $150 $125 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Learn basic mosaic techniques and create your own mosaic. This series will cover the use of various substrates, adhesives, and materials, design transfer, cutting techniques, and grouting. Materials are included and no experience necessary. Make your own unique mosaic, ready to take home at the end of the course! |
Jewelry & Metalsmithing Christina Taylor Registration Closed | Thursdays 10:00am-12:00pm Thursdays 6:30-8:30pm Adult (16+) 8-Week Series $150 $125 - City of Savannah Resident Rate | Create wearable pieces of art while building a foundation working with metals (copper, brass, and silver). Covering both cold and hot connections (torch!), forming, and fabrication, you’ll gain an understanding of all our metals studio has to offer. This class is suitable for the absolute beginner, and each project will have suitable variations to engage any level. |

Aerial Skills Workshops Jamie Failing | Two Options: Tuesdays: May 31 & June 7 *Registration Closed 6:30-8:00pm Thursdays: June 2 & June 9 *Waitlist 6:30-8:00pm Ages 18+, $30 | Join us for an exploration of movement in the air. We’ll explore their stories through beginning ballet, playing imaginative games, making crafts, and reading their thrilling tales. Let's put on a crown and let our imaginations create magic on the dance floor! You’ll even get to learn a royal ballet dance and perform on the last day of camp! Registration Methods
Online
Registration for classes can be completed using our online form. Payment will be completed by phone after registration is submitted. Your registration is not complete until payment is received. Staff will reach out for payment in the order your registration was received.
Phone
To register by phone, please call us at (912) 651 6783. (Please note during high volume time, our customer service team may need to call you back to complete a full phone registration).
Financial assistance: Youth who qualified for free and reduced lunch in SCCPSS year 2020-2021 or receive SNAP or TANF are eligible for financial assistance in the form of reduced class and camp fees. Please review the application and required documentation here.
*Important: Payment is due at the time of registration. All debit and credit cards accepted.
Procedures and Policies
Cancellations and Refunds
Cultural Resources reserves the right to cancel, to combine or reschedule classes, or to change class instructors, when necessary. • Cultural Resources will not provide make-up classes or issue refunds to those who miss classes due to illness or other events beyond our control. • If Cultural Resources cancels a class for any reason, all registered participants will be informed as soon as possible and extended the opportunity to transfer to another class. If participants do not wish to transfer to another class, a refund will be processed. • Participants may withdraw from a class with no penalty up to one week before the first class meets. After that time a 50% withdrawal penalty will be applied. Notice of withdrawal must be made in WRITING to Cultural Resources. • No refunds will be issued after the first class. • Failure to attend first class session without prior notification could result in cancellation of registration without refund.
Attendance Policies
Early Arrival: Participants will be allowed into the classroom no earlier than 10 minutes before the class is scheduled to begin. • Late Arrival: A grace period of 15 minutes is allowed for late arrivals. After that time Cultural Resources reserves the right to deny entry to class at the discretion of the Instructor. Participants are encouraged to call ahead to the Savannah Cultural Arts Center in the event they will arrive late. No refunds will be given for classes that are missed due to late arrival. • Cultural Resources reserves the right to cancel a class that has zero attendance for two consecutive classes. • Cultural Resources reserves the right to refuse enrollment to participants with a history of unacceptable behavior.
Financial Assistance
Our classes and workshops are available to the entire community and we strive to ensure that youth, in particular, have an opportunity to participate. Financial assistance is available for youth, aged 17 and under, who qualified for free and reduced lunch in SCCPSS year 2020-2021 or receive SNAP or TANF. Documentation is required from parents/guardians. Download the financial assistance application here.
