What is Non-Discrimination Ordinance?

Any person aggrieved by a potential violation of this ordinance may file a complaint with the City Clerk on a form to be provided by the City. Any such complaint must be filed within ninety (90) calendar days after the alleged act of discrimination. 

When was the ordinance enacted? (History)

The Unlawful Discrimination ordinance went into effect of July 23, 2020, as result of the work of the PROUD Savannah Taskforce. Section 2-3066, Enforcement, of the City’s Unlawful Discrimination Ordinance currently states:

“Any person aggrieved by a potential violation of this ordinance may file a complaint with the City Clerk on a form to be provided by the City. Any such complaint must be filed within ninety (90) calendar days after the alleged act of discrimination.”

The Complaint Process

  1. Obtain the complaint form (forms are available through the City Clerk's Office)
  2. Submit your complaint form & file the completed form within 90 days of the alleged discriminatory act. 
  3. Once received, the complaint will be reviewed and processed according to the ordinance procedures within 7 business days.
