Youth Virtual Classes | Adult Virtual Classes | Virtual Storytime
All classes will take place virtually via Zoom. Please review system requirements and basic user instructions ahead of time to ensure an optimal class experience. Materials for classes (if applicable) must be obtained by the student at their expense before class begins, except for ceramics clay and the Oz Prop Kit, which can be picked up curbside from the Savannah Cultural Arts Center.

Artist Adventures | |
Learn, create, and have fun in Artist Adventures! Each week, a different activity prepared for ages 9 to 12 years will foster creative expression. A variety of visual arts skills across different media will be explored and paired with famous artists and art movements.

Art Journaling for Teens | |
Expand or jumpstart your journaling practice! This course for ages 13 to 17 will explore various stream of consciousness writing, collage, and painting exercises. Drama Adventures in Oz! | |
Explore theater through the imaginary world of Oz! Ease on down the yellow brick road - acting, dancing, and creating - alongside the colorful characters and storylines of the wonderful Wizard and friends. Each class features a new creative adventure and encourages young performers of any ability to build confidence and express themselves on stage and on the Zoom screen. On Stage! Teen Acting | |
Spark creativity and hone core acting skills in this virtual class! Open to all levels and ages 13 to 15, this course covers character development, physical and emotional expression, and connection to text on and off the page. Classes will utilize guided improvisation, scene work, and script analysis to create authentic, fun, and purposeful performances. Price: | |
Teen Clay | |
Explore the creative possibilities in clay! This fun and energetic class is geared to ages 13 to 17 with any level of experience and will cover a mix of skill-building and experimental projects. Homemade projects can be dropped off at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center for kiln firing and glazing, allowing participants to end the course with fully finished pieces. Explorations in Collage | |
Let your creativity thrive using recycled newspapers, magazines, photos, personal memorabilia found in your home to create unique 2D collaged art. Designed to inspire artistic growth while developing collaging skills and introducing new techniques, Explorations in Collage is a course for all levels of experience. In this 6-week course participants can expect to create 4 finished art pieces.

Topics in Theater | Interactive Workshop Series (FREE) |
Join performing arts instructor, Pam Freedy, as she dives into a broad range of theatre topics, ranging from acting technique, to technical theatre, to self-care and wellness through performance. A great opportunity to explore multiple facets of the onstage and offstage magic that is theatre. Thursdays | 7:00 - 8:00p.m. Drop-in FREE April 15: Fundamentals of Acting; An approach to character development Using techniques rooted in the Stanislavski approach to acting, participants will be guided in a step by step process to developing a character from text to performance. April 29: Costume Design; Expression of Character and Beyond Costume design is integral in visually introducing a character to an audience. Participants in this workshop will take a look at iconic costume designs from Broadway and beyond before building a character inspired by fabric or clothing they may have in their closets at home. May 13: Trends in Theatre What is Physical Theatre and how is it surfacing amongst artists across the globe? Workshop participants will be introduced to the art form and the work of prominent physical theatre companies in the US and UK before trying their hand at the performance methods developed these companies. May 20: Basics of Improv Participants will explore the main tenants of improvisation and will have the opportunity take part in an assortment of introductory games to encourage spontaneous creativity. May 27: Physical Theatre as Self-Expression and Self-Care Physical theatre can serve as a form of safe creative expression and can provide an entrance to processing the stresses of day to day life. In a time when methods of self-care have never been more valuable, we’ll have a bit of fun exploring the ways in which creatively moving the body can impact our overall mental wellness. |
Virtual Storytime
Join us virtually on Saturday mornings for interactive read-alouds of some of your favorite children’s books, and maybe discover a few new stories too. Each engaging story is accompanied by an arts activity to enhance the literary experience. This free program runs every other week for children ages 3 to 7.

*Important: Payment is due at the time of registration. All debit and credit cards accepted.
Registration Deadline: 5:00p.m. on the day prior to class start date.
Procedures and Policies
The Cultural Resources department reserves the right to cancel classes, combine or reschedule classes, or change class instructors when necessary. The Cultural Resources department will not provide make-up classes or issue refunds to those who miss classes due to illness or other events beyond our control.
The Cultural Resources department reserves the right to refuse enrollment to participants with a history of unacceptable behavior.
Cancellations and Refunds
If the Cultural Resources department cancels a class for any reason, all registered participants will be informed as soon as possible and extended the opportunity to transfer to another class. If participants do not wish to transfer to another class, a full refund will be processed.
There is a $25 withdrawal and/or transfer fee. Notice of withdrawal or transfer must be made in WRITING to the Cultural Resources department, and it must be received by noon the Friday before the first day of class. No refunds will be made for withdrawals after that time. Failure to attend sessions or verbal notification will NOT be regarded as an official notice of withdrawal.
Financial Assistance
Our classes and workshops are available to the entire community and we strive to ensure that youth, in particular, have an opportunity to participate. Financial assistance is available for youth, aged 17 and under, who are enrolled in the SCCPSS free and reduced lunch program. Documentation is required from parents/guardians.
