Registration takes place on CommunityPass. You must create a CommunityPass account to register for classes. Members of the same household who will be registered for classes must also be added to the account.

Getting Here: All classes take place at the Otis S. Johnson Cultural Arts Center at 201 Montgomery St. Limited (paid) street parking is available near the CAC. The closest parking garages are Liberty Parking Garage on Liberty and Montgomery and Robinson Parking Garage on Montgomery St. across from Chatham County Courthouse. 
There is an accessible drop-off area on Montgomery St, and one accessible parking space next to the building on Turner Blvd. Additional parking on Turner Blvd. may be available upon request. Additional accessible parking spaces are in City parking lots and garages.

Registration notes: Registration will now take place on CommunityPass, where you can register and pay for classes completely online. Pricing: Resident pricing is available for residents who have an address within the City of Savannah corporate limits. Reduced pricing is available for qualifying City of Savannah residents. Documentation required. View the application form here.

Students will learn the foundation of ballet movements in small, easily comprehended components that focus on proper technique, addressing body alignment, turnout, weight transfer and balance, and port de bras, the use of the upper body to complement the lower body. Come find the peace and solitude unique to a ballet classroom.

Students should expect that a significant amount of class time will focus on learning and rehearsing the choreography for the performance. Would you like to use your imagination and curiosity to develop a better awareness of movement and sensation?  Somatic Movement guides students in a discovery of new possibilities for experiencing and knowing movement, and can be a bridge to dance or acting classes. Ballet 3 will highlight the discipline and technique of classical ballet. Previous ballet experience is needed to transcend our turnout and pliés into a higher complexity of ballet vocabulary. This class gives students the opportunity to learn to play a variety of percussion instruments and how to play drums with both hand and stick / mallet techniques, as well as fundamental concepts of rhythm.

At the same time students will also learn to play specific rhythms from the Afro Brazilian tradition and learn about the history and positive energy of Samba music and culture, all while having a lot of fun!

Instruments are provided for the class. Drop ins are welcome, however, the class will have a definite progression each week so to gain the most from the experience it is recommended that all classes be attended.

Expanding on the Foundations of Acrylics, Beyond the Basics delves further into the potentialities of acrylic paint.. A variety of techniques, subject prompts, and approaches will give students the confidence to find their own artistic voice. This workshop gives students an opportunity to sample dimensional forming, expressive hammer work, controlled torch techniques, and forging processes that transform flat metal into dynamic, sculptural jewelry.  A great overview of the spring term course “Metal Exploration: Forming, Fire & Forging,” the workshop is also a great stand-alone experience for anyone interested in learning more about specialized techniques that can refine their craftmanship.

Copper, Brass, equipment, and tools are provided for all class projects. If you would like to work in silver, you can purchase materials from sources like Rio Grande.com or Ex Libris on MLK.  Participants are welcome to attend Jewelry Open Studio, included with registration. Students will have the opportunity to exhibit their pieces in  the student art exhibition "Elevate" in May.

Please review our registration policy below for classes:

Priority Registration for City of Savannah Residents: For the first week after registration opens, only City of Savannah residents will be able to sign up for classes. Registrants who reside outside of the city limits can still select their desired programs in CommunityPass, but will be placed on a waitlist until the week following the registration start date. At that time, registration will be available to all and non-resident registrants will be moved off the waitlist and contacted according to available space in their desired class. Please note that not all addresses in Savannah are considered within City of Savannah city limits. If you have questions about your residency status please contact us. 

Residency Verification: CommunityPass address changes of non-resident to resident status will require documentation such as a utility bill or driver’s license showing the new address in order for the change to be approved. Address changes can be submitted through your CommunityPass account by visiting the settings page. Once you have submitted the address change, please email supporting documentation to scac@savannahga.gov or bring it in-person to the Otis S. Johnson Cultural Arts Center located at 201 Montgomery St. Savannah, GA 31401.

This policy does not impact Workshop registration.

Registration for classes can be completed online using CommunityPass. You must create an account and add family members who will be registered for classes to the account. Payment will be taken at the time of registration. Classes that are full will automatically close and the waitlist will open.

Financial assistance: Reduced pricing is available for qualifying City of Savannah residents. The reduced fee program is available for qualifying youth and adults with qualifying SCCPSS Free of Reduced Lunch form, TANF, SNAP, or qualifying income tax statement. Please review the application and required documentation here.

Adults may qualify for a 25% reduction on class pricing. Youth may receive up to a 50% reduction on class pricing. Please note this program is available to residents of the City of Savanah only. Letters of free or reduced lunch can be obtained at the Savannah Chatham County Public Schools System Nutrition office at: 208 Bull St. Savannah, GA. 31401 

Complete and return this form for reduced pricing prior to registering for classes.

Accessibility: Our goal is for our classes to be inclusive and accessible. Class Procedures and Policies

Cancellations and Refunds
Cultural Resources reserves the right to cancel, to combine or reschedule classes, or to change class instructors, when necessary. • Cultural Resources will not provide make-up classes or issue refunds to those who miss classes due to illness or other events beyond our control. • If Cultural Resources cancels a class for any reason, all registered participants will be informed as soon as possible and extended the opportunity to transfer to another class. If participants do not wish to transfer to another class, a refund will be processed. • Please note: the small service fee charged by CommunityPass is non-refundable under any circumstance. • Participants may withdraw from a class with no penalty up to one week before the first class meets. After that time a 50% withdrawal penalty will be applied. Notice of withdrawal must be made in WRITING to Cultural Resources. • No refunds will be issued after the first class. • Failure to attend first class session without prior notification could result in cancellation of registration without refund.

Attendance Policies
Early Arrival: Participants will be allowed into the classroom no earlier than 10 minutes before the class is scheduled to begin. • Late Arrival:  A grace period of 15 minutes is allowed for late arrivals. After that time Cultural Resources reserves the right to deny entry to class at the discretion of the Instructor. Participants are encouraged to call ahead to the Otis S. Johnson Cultural Arts Center in the event they will arrive late. No refunds will be given for classes that are missed due to late arrival. • Cultural Resources reserves the right to cancel a class that has zero attendance for two consecutive classes. • Cultural Resources reserves the right to refuse enrollment to participants with a history of unacceptable behavior.
