Lighting Strike Causes Oak Pointe Trail House Fire


SAVANNAH, GA (Monday, June 22, 2020) – At 5:24 p.m., Sunday,  June 21, the Savannah Fire Department was dispatched to a fire in the 100 Block of Oak Pointe Trail. Lightning struck a tree and made contact with a nearby house.  The resident came home, found moderate smoke throughout the house and called for help. Engine 10 was first on scene. Firefighters discovered a small bedroom fire in the area where the lighting struck. Crews contained the fire to the bedroom. The home sustained extensive electrical damage. No one was injured, but the resident was displaced.
