East 53rd Street Kitchen Fire

 

SAVANNAH, GA (Monday, June 29, 2020) – At 1:42 a.m., Monday, June 29, the Savannah Fire Department was dispatched to a kitchen fire in the 1100 Block of E. 53rd St. Engine 8 was first on scene. Firefighters quickly extinguished the  fire, which appears to have begun with an unattended pot on the stove. No one was physically injured, but three people were displaced.


Most house fires are preventable. Remember to set timers while cooking. Never cook while sleepy or walk away from the kitchen while the burners are on.
