City to kick off aluminum to-go cup pilot program

SAVANNAH (July 30) – The City of Savannah will celebrate the start of the aluminum to-go cup pilot program on Monday, Aug. 2, at 2 p.m. at Rousakis Plaza on River Street behind City Hall.

The City Council approved adjusting Savannah's to-go cup ordinance on July 22 to allow for aluminum cups. The change allows paper, plastic and aluminum cups to be used in the city's to-go cup zone.

The adjustment will last 60 days to allow local businesses to participate in a voluntary aluminum cup pilot program. After the pilot is complete, the city will share the results of this engaging initiative. Fourteen local businesses signed up to participate in the pilot program.
