Investigators Working to Determine Cause of Habersham Street Construction Site Fire
SAVANNAH, GA (Thursday, April 15, 2021) – The Savannah Fire Department is working to determine the cause of the Thursday morning fire at a construction site in the 4600 Block of Habersham Street. At 2:42 a.m. firefighters were dispatched to the Habersham Street Fire. They discovered a three story apartment building that was fully engulfed in flames. Exterior portions of an adjacent building were damaged from exposure to the fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire and prevented further damage to the neighboring building.
The buildings on the site were under construction and vacant at the time of the fire. Investigators have not determined a cause at this time. However, they have seen nothing to indicate that the Habersham Street Fire is connected to any recent fires. The fire appears to be an isolated incident. Anyone with information that might be useful to the investigation should call 1-800-282-5804.
