Savannah, Ga. — In observance of the Christmas holiday, City of Savannah administrative offices, facilities and select services will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Thursday, Dec. 25. Emergency services will remain operational.
City offices and facilities will reopen on Friday, Dec. 26.
Sanitation services
Sanitation services will be impacted by the holiday closures. Residents can expect the following schedule changes:
Residential garbage and yard waste collection
- Services will operate on a regular schedule Wednesday, Dec. 24.
- No collection will occur Thursday, Dec. 25.
- Collection will resume Friday, Dec. 26, on a one-day delayed schedule for the remainder of the week.
- Collection services will not run Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, and will resume Friday, Jan. 2, on a one-day delayed schedule.
Recycling collection
- During the week of Dec. 22, recycling will be collected Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 26.
- No recycling collection will occur Thursday, Dec. 25.
- The New Year holiday will not impact recycling services that week.
Landfill and transfer stations
- The Dean Forest Landfill and Bacon Park Transfer Station will operate normal business hours Wednesday, Dec. 24
- Both facilities will be closed Thursday, Dec. 25, and will reopen Friday, Dec. 26, on a regular schedule.
- Both facilities will also be closed Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, and will reopen the following day.
Street sweeping
- Street sweeping services will not operate Wednesday, Dec. 24, or Thursday, Dec. 25, and will resume Monday, Dec. 29.
- Services will also not operate Wednesday, Dec. 31, or Thursday, Jan. 1, and will resume Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.
