[ARCHIVED] Public Invited to Project DeRenne field exercise

For Immediate Release
Date: May 1, 2014

Members of the public are invited to participate in a field exercise regarding the proposed Project DeRenne roadway alignment known as the Boulevard next Wednesday.

The Project DeRenne Field Exercise will last from 10:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, on Hampstead Avenue between Montgomery Street and White Bluff Road. Traffic consultants will use markers to visually demonstrate to participants the proposed alignment of the planned roadway, median and multi-use trail. Traffic on this stretch of Hampstead will be closed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the exercise Wednesday (see attached map).

The Boulevard proposed through the citizen-driven Project DeRenne process is expected to cut DeRenne traffic in half by sending eastbound I-516 traffic wanting to head south onto this new roadway that connects with White Bluff Road.

Note that parking will not be allowed on-site during the Field Exercise. Public parking is at the southeast corner of DeRenne Avenue and Montgomery Street (CIK Motorsports). Access to the meeting location will be by foot only, via Roger Wood Street.
