SFD To Host First Ever 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb
SAVANNAH (Sept. 5, 2023) – In remembrance of the brave heroes who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, the Savannah Fire Department invites the public to participate in its first annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. The event scheduled for next weekend aims to pay tribute to the fallen.
First responders and participants will climb 110 flights of stairs, symbolizing the heroic efforts of first responders who climbed the World Trade Center. This difficult, yet meaningful exercise allows individuals to experience just a fraction of the physical demands faced by those brave men and women.
This is a free event and open to the public. Participants are not required to climb the full 110 flights of stairs but are encouraged to do what they can. Refreshments will be provided after the climb.
The event will be held at the Savannah Civic Center on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 8:30 a.m.
Media are encouraged to attend and asked to RSVP by Sept. 8.
