Savannah Fire responds to Friday morning house fire, connects impacted residents to emergency resources

SAVANNAH (May 26) – This morning, at approximately 8:50 a.m. the Savannah Fire Department (SFD) responded to a reported structure fire in the 1900 block of Lloyd Street. As a result of damage to the home, seven individuals have been displaced and SFD has connected those individuals to assistance through the American Red Cross. Thanks to the quick response, no residents were injured in the fire.

Firefighters arrived on scene in under two minutes. When the initial crew arrived, they encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the back of the residence. Other units also responded and assisted with the effort.

The fire was brought under control in less than 45 minutes. Personnel from SFD assisted in ventilating the structure to ensure that all fire was out.
